When word leaked out that the Medford Lakes Education Foundation (MLEF) was hosting its second Annual Paddle Board Race and Family Fun Day, there was no shortage of community support. Families, local businesses, and civic organizations all rallied to support the “Stand Up For Schools” event, which was held on postcard perfect day recently. Lisa Blanchard, President of MLEF said, “Without the generosity and support of our community, crucial fund raising events such as this would never happen”. Medford Lakes School Superintendent, Anthony Dent, said that, pending final approval, the MLEF will be donating much needed technology equipment to the district: a document camera, 10 iPads for their Special Education Program, and 50 Chromebooks for students at the Neeta School. Steve Gurney, a paddle boarder from Reston, Virginia, came up with the game concepts of paddle board and lacrosse, calling it Paddle Polo, which led him to develop a lacrosse stick-like product that attached to any canoe or SUP paddle.
